A Path With Heart: A Guide Through the Perils and Promises of Spiritual Life
Jack Kornfield.

Following the "going within" journey of warrior spirit in learning and following a spiritual practice, Kornfield leads us into finding immense value in living a sacred and everyday life at the same time. When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times
Pema Chodron

An American Buddhist nun, Chodron teaches that happiness and spiritual truth are available by moving towards that which we often want to run from. She reveals in down to earth ways how facing our pain and suffering can lead to greater peace, self acceptance and compassion towards others. Very useful in conjunction with the reality creation emotional work we do in Warrior Monk.

The Soul's Code: In Search of Character and Calling
James Hillman

Very useful in prep for Warrior Monk in relation to life purpose and personal Mission. Hillman liberates us from the limiting beliefs of "why we're here" and delves into the exploration of the personal "genius, angel, daimon, fate, acorn, fate" we come into this life with. Through looking at our personal essence, we're directed into our understanding of our own calling and purpose.

The Re-Enchantment of Everyday Life
Thomas Moore

Moore says "Enchantment may be a sort of rapture ad ecstasy in which the Soul comes to the foreground, and the literal concerns of survival and daily preoccupation at least momentarily fade into the background."   In this book, Moore guides us in designing our life in ways where we recognize and notice the Soulfulness and Sacredness that our lives already hold.

Everyday Zen
Charlotte Joko Beck

A very simple, yet warm and effective introduction of Zen wisdom and practice as it may apply to everyday life.

The Power of Now
Eckhart Tolle

A wonderful and well written guide for understanding the value of harnessing our awareness in our moment to moment life into being in the Now. Tolle illustrates how simple (not necessarily easy) we may find what we are seeking only when we are in this present moment. The practices you will learn in Warrior Monk will give you much greater access to what Tolle teaches in this powerful book.

Poetry - any Poetry!

Reading poetry is a great way to begin to slow down and access your own inner creative muse. Search out and read poetry that calls to you - find something that gives you the sense that you are an important part of something bigger and more graceful than all of us. You might try leafing through the poetry books in a bookstore or library - something will call to you. Enjoy!
